Maryam Sanda, who allegedly stabbed her husband Bilyamin Bello to death, has told a Federal High Court in Jabi, that she’s 3 months pregnant, Vanguard reports.
Sanda, whose trial started on Monday, asked the presiding judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, to accede to her earlier application for bail.
Joseph Daudu, Sanda’s lawyer, asked that the judge “pity” his client and grant her bail to seek proper medical attention for her pregnancy.
The state’s lawyer, James Idachaba, however opposed the bail application, stating that the claim of Sanda’s 3 months pregnancy had to be proved, as the evidence provided was insufficient.
Justice Halilu adjourned the case until Wednesday to determine whether the court would grant Sanda bail on the basis of her pregnancy claim.
